ABC of Breast Health Awareness and SBE Workshop, Johnson & Johnson  Medical, Selangor – 2nd August 2003
Twenty five ladies took proactive steps to learn about breast health and attended 4-hour workshop held in Johnson & Johnson Medical office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on 2 August 2003. For the first time, a previous batch of trainees from the advanced SBE trainers’ course came along to facilitate the workshop, especially the hands on exercises in SBE. This was a positive move towards training of volunteers to teach SBE effectively and help to spread the word on early detection.

The volunteers themselves should be lauded for their commitment to learn how to motivate others around them to take proactive steps towards their breast health.

Johnson & Johnson Medical has been a supporter of breast health awareness activities of the College of Radiology, and provided the teaching breast models as well as the venue and refreshments for the workshop. The participants were from the Breast Cancer Welfare Association, from the general public who responded to the NTV7diPihakAnda programme’s highlight on breast health awareness and a participant came all the way from Johor. Dr Evelyn Ho, was again at the helm of the course.

Some of the participants will now attend the advanced “trainers” course on 20 September 2003 in their quest to be more effective teachers of SBE.
