Brave First Timers are all smiles after their mammograms – 18 Oct 2003

A mammogram “party” was held on 18 October 2003 for first timers at Megah Medical Specialists Radiology Department. To ease their apprehensions of having their first ever mammogram, a party-like atmosphere was created so that the ladies could relax, have a good laugh and chat amongst themselves. Their children were welcome as well.

The ladies obviously had a good time judging from their smiles and despite finding it somewhat uncomfortable during the compression process – no one found it unbearable

Mammograms are often viewed as a painful procedure of compressing the breasts and many women shy away from it after hearing the ‘horror” stories from others. However, once primed with positive information and how to approach the mammogram examination, most women find it very tolerable. The mammogram findings were explained and their role in breast health awareness explained.

Megah Medical is amongst some of the centres in Malaysia with special breast imaging packages as part of the 2003 Pink October activities.
