Radiology Malaysia-Kidz Magazine Challenge 2007 Prize Presentation, Kuala Lumpur – 14 June 2008

June Yeoh, Mrs Suwito and Juwita Suwito

by Dr Evelyn Ho

Juwita Suwito was the next attraction and HIGHLIGHT of the afternoon event. She was not new to Radiology Malaysia events, as she was one of the celebrity guest in last year’s prize presentation. She happens to wear many hats, other than being a talented vocalist and songwriter, she is also the National Secretary General of the YWCA. She also was a model for the OutRageously Pink Nite 2004 where CoR was an integral co-organiser. She wow-ed the crowd with 4 songs, and those present clapped along or sang along including the “crew” of WIP. She received a token of appreciation from the CoR – the CoR pewter pin and a digital photoframe.

It was then time for the last 5 winners to come to the fore. Dr A. Shantini, Honorary Secretary of the CoR and Assoc Prof Dr Yang Faridah, a council member in the CoR gave away the prizes. Mdm Ong Chui Yim, a retired teacher and Sow Sian Lin won the 3rd prizes and each received a Philips SA1356 GoGear Flash Audio Player, 1 year’s subscription to Kidz Magazine and 1 Cinema Online goody bad.

Second prize of a Sony Ericsson K320i mobile phone and 1 Cinema Online goody bag went to Chew Sue Anne.

Then there were only 2 winners left, one winning the Grand Prize of the Acer Veriton S661 with 19” LCD monitor or the 1st Prize of an iPod Nano 8Gb Silver and 1 Cinema Online goody bag.

Judges felt both the creations were intelligent one using a clever metaphor of apples, looking good and normal on the outside and one of which was rotting on the inside. Elson Teo Yong Lin won the Grand Prize and Chaw Eng Huei won 2nd Prize.

The top 2 winners then drew numbers for the rest of the lucky draw – and more from the audience got some freebies, including UIP cinema passes (donated by Kidz Magazine).

The event drew to a close with everyone having tea, courtesy of Café WIP. Many of those present managed to forge new friendships, renew contact with others and widen the network for various purposes. Some even brainstormed on what would be the next joint awareness project! It is through such events that motivate one to carry on with the work, encourage one another and give a pat on the back to those who have served in various ways.

The CoR and Dr Evelyn Ho wishes to thank the following volunteers (in addition to those already mentioned above) who made the afternoon possible and smooth flowing: Fung Mei Leng, Janet Low, Margaret Too, Rosa Ho and Francis Lee.
