8^th Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology 9-12 June 2008 By Dr Evelyn Ho The College of Radiology and Malaysian Society of Interventional Radiology were co-organisers of the eighth Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology held in Crowne Plaza Mutiara, Kuala Lumpur. The Congress that began with pre-congress workshops on the 9^th June, stretched from 10-12^th June and boasted a formidable faculty of close to 140. Regional Cooperation Agreement (RCA): Strengthening Medical Physics Through Education and Training, Bangi – 27 Mar 2008 A second meeting was convened at Agensi Nuklear Malaysia in Bangi, Selangor for implementation of the RCA Clinical Training Programme for Medical Physicists. Prof Dr Kwan-Hoong Ng was acting chair of the meeting on behalf of Dato’ Dr Rehir Dahalan. Represented at the meeting were the Malaysia Institute of Physics, Malaysian College of Radiology, Malaysian Association of Medical Physicists, the Ministry of Health (Engineering Division) and Agensi Nuklear Malaysia. The aim of the project was to ensure the availability of a sufficient number of clinically qualified medical physicists for supporting radiation medicine programmes. The Regional Cooperative Agreement for the Asia and Pacific Region has developed through a regional project implemented under the Technical Cooperation Programme of the IAEA, a Clinical Training Programme to assist the member states to provide clinical training to Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists.

Da Ma Cai’s Health Aid 2007 Presents RM160,000 to Healthcare Organisations, Kuala Lumpur 13 Dec 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho Da Ma Cai (a brand of Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd) officially launched their annual Health Aid programme at Level 24, Menara Maxis, Kuala Lumpur on 13 December 2007. The College of Radiology was amongst the 23 health-related organizations who were beneficiaries of the Health Aid. Full report here
The How, When And Why in Paediatric Ultrasound, Kuala Lumpur 24 Nov 2007 By Drs Evelyn Ho, Zaleha Abdul Manaf and Tan Sook Pei Participants at the above workshop gave rave reviews for the high quality and usefulness of the scientific programme. It made paediatric ultrasound look “easy”. Roger Gent, Head of Paediatric Ultrasound Unit, Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide was the main speaker. Full report here
Malaysian Radiologists Shine at the 7^th Asian Oceania Society of Pediatric Radiology (AOSPR) Congress - Indonesia 8-10 Nov 2007 By Assoc Prof Dr Azian Abdul Aziz The 7^th Asian Oceania Society of Pediatric Radiology (AOSPR) Congress 2007 saw Malaysia represented by a commendable number of delegates. Malaysian delegates took home four of the main prizes offered as well. The College of Radiology, Malaysia congratulates our radiologists for doing the country proud at the AOSPR 2007. Congratulations to our CoR members at their Induction in the Opening Ceremony of the 7^th MOH-AMM Scientific Meeting, Penang 6-8 Sep 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho Dr Gurcharan Singh Khera, Dr Gerard Lim Chin Chye and Dato’ Dr Sellaiah Sithambaram Pillay were conferred the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia while Dr Kooi Eng San was inducted as ordinary member of the Academy of Medicine in the 7^th Ministry of Health – Academy of Medicine of Malaysia Scientific Meeting in Bayview Beach Resort, Penang on 6 Sep 2007. Advanced Digital Image Management, Kuala Lumpur 3-4 Sep 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho Congratulations to the University of Malaya Medical Centre Continuing Biomedical Imaging Education (CBIE) for the very timely conference on “Digital Image Management in a Globalised Economy”. With radiology going digital, moving towards an integrated healthcare enterprise has or will become a necessity. Update on the Use of Contrast Media in Cardiac Imaging and Renal Safety, Kuala Lumpur 14 Aug 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho An evening symposium on the above theme was held in Le Meridien, Kuala Lumpur. The series of lectures were delivered by invited speakers, Dr John Hoe, Consultant Radiologist; Dr Melvin Tan, Consultant Cardiologist both of whom were from Singapore and Professor Dr Peter Aspelin, Professor in Medical Radiology from Huddinge University Hospital in Sweden. Breast Ultrasound “Hands-On” Workshop, Putrajaya 8 Aug 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho It was a very early start to the day for all attending the Breast Ultrasound Workshop, one of the Precongress workshops of the 1^st KL International Breast and Colorectal Cancer Congress (9-11 Aug 2007). Basic Practical Shoulder & Ankle Ultrasound Course, Hospital UKM, Kuala Lumpur 3-4 Aug 2007 By Dr KS Lau The Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) successfully organised a basic shoulder and ankle ultrasound course on the 3^rd and 4^th August 2007. The one and a half day course took place at Hospital UKM with diverse participants ranging from radiographers, sonographers, trainee radiologists and radiologists and clinicians from both the government and private hospitals in Malaysia. The Academy of Medicine, Singapore Celebrates Their Golden Jubilee at the 41^st Singapore-Malaysia Congress of Medicine, Singapore 19-22 July 2007 By Dr Evelyn Ho Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong officiated at the opening of the 41^st Singapore-Malaysia Congress of Medicine, held at the Raffles City Convention Centre, Singapore.
