Radiation Protection Seminar in conjunction with CoR 2011 Annual General Meeting, Kuching, Sarawak – 28 May 2011

The seminar was attended by 34 participants held at Four Points by Sheraton, Kuching Sarawak. It started with a lunch followed by a Radiation Protection Seminar. Speakers were Prof Dr Ng Kwan Hoong, a medical physicist from University Malaya and Dr Noriah Jamal who is the National Coordinator for IAEA with Agensi Nuklear Malaysia, Bangi. The theme was “Good Practice Guidelines”.

After tea break, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) commenced with a quorum of 23 members. The President, Prof Dato’ Dr Humairah Samad Cheung thanked all for attending the AGM. She went on to highlight past and upcoming CoR activities and future meetings where CoR will be represented. Dr Shantini Arasaratnam presented the secretary’s report while Vice-President Datin Dr Zaharah Musa tabled the 2010 accounts on behalf of the honorary treasurer, Assoc Prof Dr Yang Faridah Abdul Aziz who was not able to attend due to other commitments. It was a successful meeting with various issues discussed.

Members and participants then went for a BBQ dinner on a river cruise where they were more relaxed and shared stories and experiences. The next day the delegates toured Kuching city which was rich in history and multi cultural infrastructure.
