Radiation Protection Seminar in conjunction with CoR 2011 Annual General Meeting, Kuching, Sarawak 28 May 2011The seminar was attended by 34 participants held at Four Points by Sheraton, Kuching Sarawak whilst for the CoR AGM, the number attending was 23 members.

Seminar on Oncologic Imaging, Medical Academies Building, Kuala Lumpur 17 May 2011
The College of Radiology (CoR) organised a one day seminar on oncologic imaging, featuring Dr Chaan Ng from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA. There were 98 participants at the seminar, made up of radiologists, post graduate radiology trainees and radiographers. Topics were on CT Urography, Staging of Renal Cancer, Imaging of Pancreatic Cancer and Multimodality Imaging for Metastatic Melanoma. Dr Zaleha Abdul Manaf spoke on Imaging of Common Paediatric Tumours and Assoc Prof Dr Abdul Jalil Nordin focussed on PET-CT.

Heartiest Congratulations to College of Radiology Members - Prof Dr KH Ng and Dr CR Beena Devi May 2011 The Singapore Medical Association (SMA) presented an award to Prof Dr KH Ng on the 14th May 2011 in their Annual Dinner held at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. Prof Ng was recognised for his major contributions to the “Effective Medical Writing” Series published in the Singapore Medical Journal for the past 2½ years.
The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) awarded Dr Beena Devi the BEST POSTER in the category of Prevention & Screening during the 35th ESMO Congress, Milan, Italy held from 8-12th October 2010. Dr Beena presented a poster on “Early Detection Program Focusing on Primary and Secondary Health Care Providers Achieved Major and Sustainable Reduction of Late Stage Diagnosis of Breast Cancer”. Radiology: Beyond Image Interpretation, Kuala Lumpur 9-10 April 2011 By Dr Evelyn HoHosting the Radiological Society of North America speakers from the RSNA International Visiting Professor Programme (2011 RSNA IVP), boasting a wide range of topics including “Maximising Effectiveness” and a track on “Radiology Means Business” as well as an inaugural quiz for Radiology trainees – the Dato’ Abdul Samad Sakijan Challenge Trophy were amongst some of the highlights in the 2011 College of Radiology’s (CoR) Annual Scientific Meeting. There were about 330 delegates to the meeting, including a few from overseas such as the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Bangalore and Hong Kong. Read more here

The College of Radiology Inter-University Quiz – Dato’ Dr Abdul Samad Sakijan Challenge Trophy 9 April 2011 By Dr Evelyn Ho The Inaugural Dato’ Dr Abdul Samad Sakijan Radiology Quiz Challenge was won by University Malaya. The 2nd and 3rd places were University Sains Malaysia and University Kebangsaan Malaysia respectively. The winners won the Challenge Trophy and RM300, whilst second and third places were awarded RM200 and RM100 respectively. The friendly competition brought laughter and an opportunity to learn!Read more here

Image Gently™ Campaign Focuses on Need to “Pause and Pulse” in Pediatric Fluoroscopy -14 Feb 2011
Continuing its mission of increasing awareness of the opportunities to lower radiation dose in pediatric imaging, the Alliance for Radiation Safety in Pediatric Imaging (the Alliance) is launching the Image Gently™ campaign’s fourth phase — “Pause and Pulse” — with a focus on diagnostic fluoroscopic procedures.

Multidisciplinary Management of Breast Diseases: The Essentials, Kuala Lumpur 19 Dec 2010 By Dr Evelyn Ho
The College of Radiology’s seminar on the Multidisciplinary Management of Breast Diseases: The Essentials was held in The Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on the 19 Dec 2010. It featured and reflected the multidisciplinary approach to the management of a patient with breast diseases including breast cancer with a faculty of speakers that came from the various allied fields in medicine and science. The seminar was well attended with 197 participants.

33 New College of Radiology Members Inducted at the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia’s Conferment of Fellows & Induction Ceremony, Kuala Lumpur 8 August 2010 By Dr Evelyn Ho
The College of Radiology has great pleasure in welcoming to its fold, 33 newly inducted members, representing a mix of oncologists, radiologists and a nuclear medicine physician. Nine of its members were also conferred their Fellowship in the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia’s Conferment of Fellows and Induction of Academicians Ceremony on 8 Aug 2010.
