Advanced breast cancer in recent times is now being “considered” as a chronic illness and no longer as a terminal illness. It is not just a play of words but new advances and a “never give up” spirit amongst those with breast cancer has resulted in a decent quality of life even though battling advanced breast cancer. Support groups play a vital role in improving the mental, emotional and psychological health of individuals with breast cancer or have been cured of breast cancer. A study has shown that those who are able to talk about their disease and share their problems, ups and downs are more likely to live longer.
HISTORY was created on 8-11 August 2002 when our own Breast Cancer Welfare Association bravely organized this first ever Breast Cancer Support Conference in Malaysia. YB Dato’ Sharizat Abdul Jalil graced the closing ceremony on the 11 August. She supported the resolutions raised and pledged her Ministry's support to the efforts of cancer support groups as well as breast health awareness. One of these resolutions was to form a National Breast Cancer Coalition to enhance advocacy and other issues. For the full reports – click here SBE workshop at Avon for their “sales team”
