 Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer 2003 Campaign – Avon’s Pink Ribbon Pin
“Every 3 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Our dream is that one day soon... we can finally kiss goodbye to breast cancer.”
The above is a quote from Andrea Jung the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Avon Products Incorporated on breast cancer, the number one killer of women world-wide. In view of the seriousness of the disease to women in particular, Avon the company for women, has taken to joining the fight against breast cancer globally. The campaign, Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer is a running breast cancer programme in 47 countries where Avon is present. Through this campaign Avon hopes to help boost five key areas of the breast cancer cause: medical research; clinical care; support services; education and advocacy training; and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programmes. Avon’s efforts in Malaysia last year took place when Avon launched Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer in Stesen Sentral Kuala Lumpur, which was officiated by Health Minister Dato’ Chua Chua Ming. Proceeds from last year amounting to RM280,000 went towards the purchase of a Mammotome™ Breast Biopsy System for Hospital Putrajaya, the centre of excellence for Breast and Endocrine Surgery and mammogram subsidies for underserved women. AN INVITATION TO JOIN AVON IN THEIR FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER Avon would very much like the support of everyone, if possible to join them in raising funds for this year’s Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign. This year’s campaign will further strengthen Avon’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer. This year’s fundraising efforts involve the sale of Pink Ribbon pins which will retail at RM6.90 of which RM3.00 goes into the Breast Cancer Fund. Every purchase of the Pink Ribbon pin will help in this fight against breast cancer. The Pink Ribbon pins will be available for sale from 23 September until December 2003 or when stocks run out. The pins will be available at all Avon outlets and dealers while stocks lasts. Helps Avon save lives so that some day all can truly say we’ve ‘Kissed Goodbye to Breast Cancer’.
