| Care For Your Bosom Buddies Public Forum Launch – 3 Oct 2004
The Malaysian Oncological Society launched a public forum, the first in a series of breast cancer awareness month activities in Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of 3 October 2004. A series of public forums will follow in Alor Setar, Ipoh, Malacca and Johor Bharu. The launch was officiated by YA Berbahagia Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Ms Ranjit Kaur, President of Reach to Recovery International and the Malaysian Breast Cancer Council gave a short speech at the official ceremony as well.
The topics in the public forum were: - “Take a Look at Your Breast” by Dr Evelyn Ho
- “Breast Cancer Surgery: Can I still keep my breast?” by Prof Dr Yip Cheng Har
- I want to be cured…(treatment saves lives) by Dr Matin Mellor
- “Myths about Cancer” by Dr Albert Lim
- “My story: How I fought breast cancer and won” by Ms Siew Mei Quin, a young breast cancer survivor.
Following the talks, there was a question and answer session that lasted about half an hour and of course tea.
