Dr Evelyn Ho transilluminate a teaching silicon breast model to show how a mammogram can pick up lesions in the breast before they can be felt

An afternoon with the Methodist Women, Wesley Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur – 16 April 2005

The main programme of the monthly meeting of the Methodist Women of Wesley Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur was a “breast awareness” session with Dr Evelyn Ho. The Art of Being Breast Aware team with Rosa Ho and Francis Lee was on hand to assist Dr Ho in sharing tips and tricks of breast health and motivating all present to understand and start monthly self breast examination.

There were 3 brave men in the audience of about 40. The talk was organised by the Methodist Women’s group but was open to all who were interested. Hands on session for the look and feel aspect of self breast examination were conducted in addition to a question and answer session.

This talk was possible at the invitation of the Methodist Women and chaired by Ms Lily Lee.

NCR 2003 Report: Breast Cancer is still the top cancer amongst women

Latest statistics from
the National Cancer Registry (NCR) show
that lung cancer is the most common cancer experienced by men in the country, whilst
breast cancer is the top cancer in women. Lung cancer accounts for 13.8 per cent of cancer cases among men. For women, breast cancer accounts
for 31 per cent of cases.
