The Wear It Pink Walk For Life was the culmination of two and a half months of activities (Wear It Pink Breast Cancer Education & Awareness Campaign) organised to raise awareness for breast cancer by Pantai Medical Centre (PMC) and Asia Assistance (AA). This 8 km walk was physically challenging as it traversed the hills of Bangsar!

The turn out for the event was excellent and registration began at 7 am on this bright Sunday morning. YB Dato’ Dr Chua Soi Lek, Minister of Health Malaysia officiated at the event and arrived early enough for the warm up exercises before the flagging off and leading the walk!

Mock cheques of RM 50,000 to Hospis Malaysia and RM 10,000 to Hospis Klang were presented during the early morning formalities where Dr Devanand, the Organising Chairman of the campaign, Mr Andy Toh, the Chairman of the Asia Assistance Network (M) Sdn Bhd and the Guest of Honour, YB Dato’ Dr Chua delivered their respective speeches.

A food fair, entertainment and lucky draw were activities held at Pantai Medical Centre for the participants after the walk. Wear It Pink merchandise such as chocolates, towels, teddy bears, pink ribbon pins and specially designed limited edition Bernard Chandran T-shirts were on sale to raise funds for charity.

Other events that were held prior to the Walk for Life included road shows in shopping malls and a charity gala dinner.

The Wear It Pink Campaign was sponsored by Magnum Corporation Berhad and Magnum Cares, Tokio Marine Insurance (M) Bhd, Pacific Insurance Bhd, Roche Malaysia, Red-C Communications, Phantom Event Management, YSC Nobel Enterprise, Measat Publications and AMP Radio Networks.
