Thaine Allison and Dr Evelyn Ho with the Mock Cheque

Friends of Malaysia (FoM) stop over to meet the CoR President on their way to Pink October Launch in Sandakan, Petaling Jaya – 20 Sep 2006
By Mr Thaine H. Allison, Jr, Vice President Programs, Friends of Malaysia

On the way to Sandakan, I had a brief meeting with Dr Evelyn Ho, the President of the College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur to discuss her Breast Health Awareness Programmes, vision and the various projects that she is involved with. I presented her with a special t-shirt and the sample of the mock check that we were delivering to Mary Alex Mansiw and the project in Sandakan. The actual cheque will go directly to the vendor that is supplying the silicon breast model training materials.

Dr Ho’s tireless efforts have brought this NGO into being and she is helping to support several groups around West Malaysia as well as the formation of the group in Sabah.  She has supplied leadership and inspiration to several groups throughout the country that are providing information, inspiration and hope to women and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. She graciously took time away from her busy patient load to spend a few minutes with Slim and Joan (RPCV) Lim, Board members from FoM who were visiting Slim’s family in Kuala Lumpur.
