Breast Health Awareness at AstraZeneca, Kuala Lumpur – 9 Oct 2006
By Dr Evelyn Ho

Staff of AstraZeneca gained insight into breast health awareness in an interactive session with Dr Evelyn Ho. Everyone gathered earlier than normal at the conference room and made the effort to dress in something pink, well at least most of the audience did in support of breast cancer awareness. Chong Fee Bee was to be credited in organizing the session and the turnout was excellent.

The audience was enlightened on understanding the human breast and then, the techniques in self examination. A very sporting Alex was the “live” model for the lying down aspect of self breast examination. A teaching set of 3 silicon breasts was available for some hands-on as well. Some basic information on screening breast cancer, the role of mammography as well as ultrasound in breast cancer diagnosis was clarified. The session was followed by “breakfast”.

AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, with business focused on turning good ideas into innovative effective medicines that make a real difference in important areas of healthcare.

AstraZeneca drugs used in breast cancer management include Arimidex
, Faslodex, Zoladex and until June 2006, Nolvadex which is tamoxifen citrate. Tamoxifen is now produced by various companies in generic form.
