In conjunction with Mother’s Day, Nurses Day, World SLE Day and also World Thalassaemia Day, the Sandakan Breast Health Awareness Committee also participated in the public event to commemorate Women’s Health Week on 10th May 2008.

There were exhibitions, talks and demonstrations for the general public. One of the main highlights of the event was the handing of cash amounting to RM300 per recipient for 15 Sandakan breast cancer patients from the Sandakan Breast Health Awareness Committee. The money was raised from the fund raising jogathon held on 1 December 2007.
 

 

NCR 2003 Report: Breast Cancer is still the top cancer amongst women

Latest statistics from
the National Cancer Registry (NCR) show
that lung cancer is the most common cancer experienced by men in the country, whilst
breast cancer is the top cancer in women. Lung cancer accounts for 13.8 per cent of cancer cases among men. For women, breast cancer accounts
for 31 per cent of cases.
