ACP Magazines Launches The Pink Project with The Pink Shopping Night at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur – 12 Oct 2010
By Dr Evelyn Ho

The East Atrium in the Mid Valley Megamall was abuzz with activities by 3.30pm as more and more came to browse the booths from the Breast Cancer Welfare Association, the Great Wall of Kisses and to start queueing for the goody bags worth RM150 for the first 500 readers of ACP magazines (Harper’s BAZAAR, The Malaysian Women’s Weekly, CLEO and Cosmopolitan).

A health talk on Taking Charge of My Breast Health (by Dr Evelyn Ho) is to begin at about 4pm and Ben Ibrahim, the emcee for the Pink Shopping Night, called for everyone to come to take their seats for the talk just about 5 min before the talk started. The interactive session imparted tips on how to get familiar with the breasts.

A flash mob at 6pm and lucky draws for the Walk for Pink Challenge, a fitness meets fashion activity was also held. Jessica Lim exclaimed, “OMG”, when she was one of the 5 lucky people to win a pair of the latest Reebok Easytone – balance ball inspired technology with moving air creating micro-instability. The “retail therapy” was definitely worth it for her. Obviously she could not believe her good fortune.

Other activities included free Secret Recipe cupcakes for the first 1000 readers and of course special discounts/promotions from participating retail stores with the “pink shopping card” from 6pm to 10pm.

Needless to say, the event was a smashing success! Hopefully the seeds of awareness for breast cancer were also planted amongst all the many participants that came for the fun, games and shopping.

About The Pink Project
The Pink Project is an initiative of ACP Magazines in support of breast cancer awareness. This is the 4th year of the Pink Project, which is an in-magazine editorial campaign on breast health with key on-ground events and nationwide distribution of Pink Project Cards on self examination of the breasts. Pink Project 2010 kicked off with an inaugural Pink Shopping Night at Mid Valley Megamall to raise funds for Breast Cancer Welfare Association.
