Lauder and The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. have since 1992 been at the forefront of a far-reaching global campaign, raising awareness on breast cancer and that early detection saves lives. In Malaysia, 2010 marks The Estee Lauder Companies Malaysia’s 14th year supporting this cause through educational activities and fund-raisers aimed at elevating awareness and raising funds for four local non-government, non-profit organisations that each contribute towards fighting breast cancer in the areas of Research, Education, Treatment, After-treatment Care and Support for patients, survivors and their families.
Thanks to the philanthropy of Malaysians, Estee Lauder Companies Malaysia continues in its upbeat outreach efforts through this year’s tagline of Connect, Communicate & Conquer. In place of the usual gala dinner and charity auction, for the first time in history, The Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Committee 2010 has organized a concert– “A Pink Charity Evening with Frances Yip” accompanied by a 32-piece Orchestra at the Plenary Hall, KL Convention Centre at 8pm on 29 Oct 2010.
Frances Yip, a Cantopop singer from Hong Kong sang many TV theme songs for the Hong Kong TVB series between 1980s and early 1990s. She hit international fame with her signature tune, The Bund from the popular TVB drama of the same title. With a talent and personality as cosmopolitan as her birthplace in Hong Kong, this legendary entertainer has performed in more than 30 countries on five continents. She is equally at home singing Chinese opera at a nightclub in Singapore or a popular English ballad at London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel. Her critics were unanimous in their praise: “Vibrant and exciting, “Sheer professionalism”, “Indeed – simply the best” and “A majestic voice talent”. This talent ultimately sums Frances as “Asia’s leading lady of song”.
A breast cancer survivor herself, Frances’ involvement in this concert is personal, advocating Early Detection of Breast Cancer Saves Lives. Proceeds from tickets sale will be channeled to support the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), College of Radiology Malaysia, The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) and The Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation (CARIF). The total value of the tickets sold will go to the campaign fund.
