Activities | Walk With The Pink Challengers - 27 to 28 May 2006 By Chin Keat Yue
| The Fun Walk Organising Committee with their Patron, Yg Berbahagia Puan Sri Datin Seri Dato’ Akmal Abdul Salam |
A cacophony of voices rose one early Sunday morning at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) Park. It was still dark and the Pink Challengers were out in full force setting up tables for registration, sale of food and drinks, goodie bags, gifts and more! With a gung-ho attitude, all the items were laid out in good time. The Nestle truck was there together with our local DJ with his mean music machine. Regular walkers and joggers at TTDI were curious about what was happening.
It was the big event – the Charity Fun Walk on 26 November organised by the Pink Challengers to raise funds for its activities for the coming year.
Come 7.00 a.m. the Registration Booth opened in a flurry of activity. Those who had signed up earlier collected their goodie bags, while on-the-spot registration was also undertaken. To the beat of some hot music, warm-up exercises were led by Prof Siti Hajar with participants gyrating to the beat. Then came the much awaited flag off. | The 2.5km walk was fun and there was time to enjoy the pristine surroundings and peep at the antic of the monkeys. The much anticipated lucky draw and quiz rounded up the morning. The crowd was enthusiastic as the prizes were attractive. Our Patron, Yang Berbahagia Puan Sri Datin Seri Dato’ Akmal Abdul Salam kindly gave away the prizes to all the winners at the end of the event. Music was provided by our music man who also entertained us with his rendition of some oldies.
To the 200 odd participants - a big round of applause for your enthusiastic support.
To the sponsors namely. Nestle, Yeo Hiap Seng, Nichi Engineering, Purple Cane, Dutch Lady, Roche, Reader’s Digest - a big thank you for your contribution. To the volunteers from SMK (P) Sri Aman and St John’s Ambulance, Pink Challengers, all Breast Cancer Welfare Association members who helped in one way or another - well done! | | |
