Estee Lauder’s 2003 Breast Cancer Awareness Drive Launch – 2 October 2003

The Estee Lauder Group of Companies launched their 7^th Breast Cancer Awareness Drive on the 2 Oct 2003 at the Concourse, Suria KLCC. YB Dato’ Dr Ng Yen Yen, Deputy Minister of Finance graced the occasion. Local artiste Ferhad as emcee kept the guests entertained and auctioned off outfits donated by renowned Malaysian designers – Zang Toi, Eric Tho, Melinda Looi, Sharifah Kirana, Rizalman Ibrahim, Khoon Hooi and Carven Ong.  

RM11,700 was raised at this charity auction and all proceeds would benefit the Breast Cancer Welfare Association. In addition, a RM30,000 cheque was presented to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association and received by their patron, Y.M. Raja Toh Puan Teh Zaitun Bte Raja Kamarulzaman. Robert Kot, the Managing Director of Estee Lauder Companies presented the cheque. 

Other Estee Lauder’s activities include:

1. Roadshows in the month of October 2003 in major malls with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) giving free counseling and where volunteers will also teach self breast examination.
2. Look Good, Feel Good programme where makeup artists from Estee Lauder Group of Companies will be in the BCWA premises at scheduled times to help cancer survivors enhance their appearance – thereby boosting self esteem.
3. Sponsoring 100 mammograms. These mammograms are available to those who cannot afford to pay for a mammogram at the National Cancer Society of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
4. Fund raising activities such as the Charity Golf at Templer’s Park on 16 October 2003, Sale of pink ribbons and compact inlaid with pink Swarovski crystals; and auction of designer outfits at the launch on 2^nd October.
