| Getting to Grips with Breast Awareness – 20 Aug 2005 21 ladies participated in the Art of Being Breast Aware workshop held at J & J Medical, Wisma Zuellig, Petaling Jaya. The group had a wide age range from the twenties to sixties and many of them were breast cancer survivors.
Facts on breast health were given to build the foundation towards understanding the breasts. The aims were to correct misconceptions, empower with information and motivate the participants to be self breast aware. Hands on sessions were given on how to feel their breasts systematically. Teaching silicon breast models were used to practice and observe technique as well as for the participants to try to find breast “lumps”.
The workshop was conducted by Dr Evelyn Ho, assisted by Annie Tang, Lynn Leong, June Yeoh, Rosa Ho and Francis Lee. Tea and venue were courtesy of J & J Medical.

NCR 2003 Report: Breast Cancer is still the top cancer amongst women 
Latest statistics from the National Cancer Registry (NCR) show that lung cancer is the most common cancer experienced by men in the country, whilst breast cancer is the top cancer in women. Lung cancer accounts for 13.8 per cent of cancer cases among men. For women, breast cancer accounts for 31 per cent of cases. |  |
