Breast Cancer Support Group, Johor Bahru Thanks College of Radiology For Its Value Added Mammogram Programme – December 2009

We the volunteers of the BCSG JB would like to say a big thank you to the College of Radiology (CoR) and its sponsors for the value added CoR Mammogram Programme CMP2009. Response from the womenfolk was good and the 200 quota were all taken up. The women were very grateful. Many were also doing the mammogram for the first time and they were happy to learn the importance of the mammogram.

We hope to participate in the CMP again in 2010, as we were given the opportunities previously in 2006 and recently in 2009. We would like to present some of the comments from the participants who were eligible for the CMP 2009.

Phua Poh Guat
I must applaud and thank the College of Radiology for sponsoring the mammogram project coordinated in Johor Bahru by the BCSG JB. This value added mammogram programme has benefited many members of the public as well as BCSG members who would otherwise not have gone for a mammogram screening.

As the saying goes: “Early detection saves lives”. Those who have had a mammogram done can now enjoy peace of mind or can decide on the next course of action.

I do sincerely hope that the CoR will continue this noble deed of sponsorship on mammogram in future so that more women will benefit from it.

Thank you again.

Sekali lagi terima kasih BCSGJB.

Since being actively involved with the BCSG JB as a volunteer, I have seen more and more cases of young sufferers of breast cancer. So as soon as I found out that there is mammogram programme subsidised by CoR, I signed up immediately.

On 29/10/09, when I got the result of my screening from Puteri Specialist Hospital, I was absolutely relieved as the results turned out to be fine.

Thank you CoR for this program without which I would not have pushed myself to get the screening done. Many ladies, like me, have benefited from this program, especially those in the low-income group some of whom do not even know what a mammogram is.

Together with CoR, the BCSG JB will continue to promote mammogram screening to as many women as possible so that going for a mammogram is something that all ladies should do on a regular basis and hopefully the number of fatalities due to breast cancer will be reduced.

I fully support and am grateful for the CMP. It is especially good for first timers. I hope this program will continue.

Jenny, BCSG Pontian
The mammogram is very beneficial to all ladies especially those in the lower income group. I sincerely hope that in future, more mammograms campaign will be introduced to more ladies.
