| 2009 CoR Mammogram Programme Brings Benefit to Johor & Pahang 387 women accessed the 2009 CMP. There were 4 detected with breast cancer and were treated. The eligible participants for the value added mammogram programme with adjunct ultrasound where necessary and image guided biopsies were from Johor (84.5%) and 15.5% from Pahang. 65.6% were having their mammograms for the first time. 14.7% had a positive family history of breast cancer. Of those confirmed with breast cancer, only 1 had first degree relative (sister) whilst another had an aunty with breast cancer.
Full Report Here! | The Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat (BCSS) report on the College of Radiology (CoR) Value Added Mammogram Programme (CMP2006-2009), Segamat, Johor – Dec 2009 Through the subsidised value added mammogram programme under College of Radiology, the Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat have managed to send many ladies who met the criteria for a much-needed mammogram. Currently, participants are sent to the Breast Centre IIUM Kuantan as it is nearest to Segamat. From year 2006 to date, a total of 915 ladies have benefitted from the CMP. About 38% have been advised to go for scanning 6 months later while 2% had Fine Needle Cytology or Core Biopsy carried out. 11 ladies (1.2%) have had mastectomy (surgery to remove the breast) done. Most of them had cancer detected early – i.e. at stage 1 and 2.
For the full report, click here | The Message from Breast Cancer Proven Participants of the CMP in Segamat: “Early Detection Saves Lives” This report gives the testimonies of some of the participants of the College of Radiology Value Added Mammogram Programme conducted for Segamat and its surrounding areas, in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat and the IIUM Breast Centre in Kuantan. Through the CMP, these ladies were diagnosed with breast cancer, treated in 2007 and currently are well and on follow up for their disease.

| Breast Cancer Support Group, Johor Bahru Thanks College of Radiology for Its Value Added Mammogram Programme – Dec 2009 We the volunteers of the BCSG JB would like to say a big thank you to the College of Radiology (CoR) and its sponsors for the value added CoR Mammogram Programme CMP2009. Response from the womenfolk was good and the 200 quota were all taken up. The women were very grateful. Many were also doing the mammogram for the first time and they were happy to learn the importance of the mammogram.

| The Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Cheque Presentation, Kuala Lumpur – 4 Dec 2009 ELC held its cheque presentation luncheon in Sage Restaurant & Wine Bar, The Gardens Residences, Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. Cheques of RM 100,500 was presented to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association, National Cancer Society of Malaysia, CARIF and College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. The money was raised from a smashingly successful 2009 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign run by ELC.
| The SHOW MUST GO ON and IT DID! OutRageously PiNk Nite, Bangsar Village II, Kuala Lumpur – 7 Nov 2009 It had been raining daily in the week running up to OutRageously PiNk Nite (OPN), so it was great to have a sunny day come Saturday 7 Nov 2009. Yet it was not to be, as close to 4.45pm, the heavy rain came with a bit of thunder and lightning, but the show went on, albeit delayed nearly one hour. The Harley Davidson Owners Group (Malaysia Chapter) could not gather in time/on time at their Head Office in Jalan 222 and dressing up the bikes was impossible. Yet, they took off just 15 min later than scheduled resplendent in their Mardi Gras-like decorated pink bras!!!

The digital videos were to be 3 minutes or less and themed or centred on “Living life to the fullest even with breast cancer” whilst the 3-word slogans were to be the tagline to describe OutRageously PiNk Nite (OPN). The Prize presentation was on OPN2009 itself with winners coming from Penang and Johor Bahru.

| Anita Sarawak Wows All at the Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia Charity Gala Dinner & Auction 2009 – 24 Oct 2009 Guests at the Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia (ELC) Charity Gala Dinner & Auction were delighted by the energetic and highly entertaining diva, Anita Sarawak. Coming in early in the order of events because of another appointment was a blessing in disguise, as she got everyone tapping their feet, clapping their hands or joining her in the singing. The very capable emcee of the night was none other than well known celebrity Yasmin Yusuff. She introduced Mr Loo Kai Nan, Managing Director of ELC Malaysia who gave a speech of ELC’s endeavours in breast cancer awareness and fund raising.
Click here for more | Me & My Breasts, Bangsar Village II, Kuala Lumpur – 24 Oct 2009 It was a hot Saturday afternoon and nearly 30 participants gathered in the cool air-conditioned Event Hall of Bangsar Village II to be part of an interactive talk on how to understand the breasts, perform effective self breast examination and find out more about imaging of the breasts, especially with respect to screening for breast cancer.
Click here for more | World Pink Roadshow in Kuala Lumpur – October 2009 Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign World Pink Road Shows were held at Gardens Mall and Suria KLCC over the 9-11th and 16-18th October weekends. Free health talks and clinical services (clinical examination of the breasts), the World Pink Photo Wall by Sony Cybershot, and special items to raise funds for the ELC initiative, including the World Pink polo-neck T shirt and enamel pink ribbon, enjoyed brisk sales.
Click here for more | 1st KL Girls Brigade Company Gets Breast Aware, Kuala Lumpur – 10 Oct 2009 The 1st Kuala Lumpur Girls Brigade Company had a different programme prepared for them on the Saturday afternoon of 10th October, 2009. The Girls Brigade members ranged from 12 to 18 years of age, possibly the best age at which to create the need to be breast aware and how to familiarise themselves with their breasts, and its development.

For the report – click here |  Menara Kuala Lumpur Lights Up In Pink – 3 Oct 2009 “World Pink, World Without Breast Cancer” – these were the words lighting up the Menara Kuala Lumpur as part of the Estée Lauder Companies’ Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative at just after 8pm on a balmy Saturday night. Base jumpers thrilled the crowd made up mainly of those who had just completed their Walk for World Pink earlier in the evening.
Read more here and view the video of the illumination | College of Radiology WALKS for WORLD PINK, Kuala Lumpur – 3 Oct 2009 It was great weather for College of Radiology members, supporters and friends to join Estée Lauder Companies’ initiative to raise breast cancer awareness and funds, i.e. Walk for World Pink at Menara Kuala Lumpur. The walk flagged off at 6.30pm, but participants and supporters were there earlier with a host of activities to keep everyone’s spirits high despite the humidity! There were at least 1,200 registered for the 3.8km walk, but many more came with their children to support the event, and walked together in solidarity for the common cause.
Read the full report here! | Stand Up For Pink @ Bangsar Village, Kuala Lumpur – 1 Oct 2009 Bangsar Village goes pink for the first time in support of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October. Together with the Malaysian Breast Cancer Council, Bangsar Village launched the Pledge Wall for Pink to encourage all to pledge to be breast aware and also help raise funds for the University Malaya Medical Centre Breast Cancer Fund.
Read the full report here! | Breast Awareness at the Reach To Recovery Training Workshop, Petaling Jaya – 2 August 2009 Although the breast health workshop was held after lunch on the 3rd and final day of the training programme, all the delegates to the RTR Training Workshop plus facilitators/enablers for the workshop kept up with Dr Evelyn Ho, as she breezed through the various aspects of breast health. The breast health workshop was part of the Reach to Recovery Training Workshop 2009, organised by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association.

I have a woman’s disease.” This optimistic response of a fifty-eight year old man sent jolts of laughter through the audience. A total contrast of what would have been expected to be a sombre topic, turned out to be an exciting and educational day at Sabah Hotel, Sandakan on Saturday, 25 April, 2009. A total of 420 participants, men and women, turned up for the forum. Admission was free.

The event was another great success, true to the tradition of ELC activities.
On 23 Jan 2009, ELC held its cheque presentation luncheon in Chynna Restaurant, KL Hilton. Cheques of RM 70,000 was presented to Breast Cancer Welfare Association, National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Carif and College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. |
