“WHAT CANCER MEANS TO ME”

In 2005, Radiology Malaysia embarked on a different kind of awareness contest – to get people to write about their experience with cancer. Everyone was given an opportunity to write – care givers, colleagues, friends, neighbours, relatives or the person living with cancer. This time, all, including the younger generation are encouraged to share their feelings, thoughts and ideas through creative artwork – expressed through a collage (up to A3 size).

Special Instructions
What’s the catch? You will need to find the four or five words, each “hidden” in pink ribbons (1 set in English and another set in Bahasa Malaysia) or four words, each “hidden” in yellow ribbons in this Radiology Malaysia website and string them together into a sentence that makes sense! The sentence that you form must all be in the same language, English or Bahasa Malaysia. These four or five words in a sentence must appear somewhere in your final product, which is the collage. BIG CLUE - Don’t mix up the words from the pink ribbons with those from the yellow ribbons! Only ONE sentence of either 4 or 5 words is needed in your collage.

Children – you can take part too!
For the children (less than 18 years old) taking part in this contest, you can get your parents to help you surf the website for the clues and help you with the sentence as well as the collage. One of your parents (or legal guardian’s) name will have to be submitted along with your own. If you choose another adult to help you with the collage art work, then, his/her name will have to be submitted along in addition to your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent to enter this contest.

More information for the type of collage you can make!
Your collage may be made up of newspaper clippings, ribbons, whatever bits of knick knacks you can get your hands on, portions of other artwork, old cards, photos, memorabilia from treatment or otherwise, and all glued to a piece of paper or canvas.

For a digital collage, you work should be in JPEG form, and sized to A4 (300dpi).

Prizes - what’s in store for me?
A variety of prizes await you including a computer, mobile phones, and cook books, to MP3 players.

For those younger than 18 years
